MICROECONOMIC THEORY
How do individuals, businesses and markets make decisions?
Microeconomic theorists study how individuals and firms make choices, interact and respond to incentives. Their research explores how markets function, resources are allocated and competition, information and strategic behaviour shape economic outcomes. Areas of expertise include game theory, decision theory, behavioural economics, information and contract theory, market design, general equilibrium and network economics.
The group runs two regular seminar series: the Nuffield Economic Theory Seminars on Friday afternoons and the Economic Theory Workshops on alternate Tuesday lunchtimes during term. A dedicated Student Research Workshop also provides opportunities for graduate students to present their research.
