Kevin Roberts has been the Sir John Hicks Professor of Economics and Fellow of Nuffield College since 1999. He was Head of the Department of Economics 2010-2013. Previously, he has held positions in Oxford and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Warwick University and at the London School of Economics, where also he served as Head of the Economics Department.
His main research interests are in microeconomic theory, broadly conceived. A has a particular interest in the theoretical foundations of welfare and public economics with a particular emphasis on social objectives, being what should be adopted (social choice), what could be adopted (implementation), or what would be adopted (voting). The implications of different objectives in terms of economic policy have also been a focus of attention.
