POLITICAL ECONOMY

How do politics and economics shape one another?

Political economists study the relationship between political institutions, government decisions and economic outcomes. Combining theoretical and empirical approaches, researchers examine how power, incentives, public policy and political processes influence economic behaviour, the distribution of resources and the functioning of societies.

The group has particular strengths in historical political economy, cultural and institutional economics, and the political economy of development.
