Jianan Lu is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Vaasa, Finland. He obtained his PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh and served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford.
His research draws interdisciplinary links across a wide range of topics in finance and economics, including ESG and sustainable finance, financial technology and financial inclusion, innovation and development economics, as well as economic history and experimental / environmental economics. His work has been published in prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Financial Intermediation and Research Policy.
He serves as the Principal Investigator on several international research projects, including those focused on using financial technology and financial literacy as tools for post-war economic recovery in Ukraine and social integration in Finland. His current research also sheds light on the role of cultural and social capital as lenses for explaining cross-regional heterogeneity in financial development.
Jianan also holds several external appointments. He serves as an executive board member of the Chinese Economic Association (UK/EU) and as an Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor of JCEBS. In addition, he is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, and Tsinghua University.
