Congratulations to Alex Teytelboym on Promotion to RSIV Professorship

The Department of Economics is delighted to announce that Alex Teytelboym has been promoted to the RSIV Professorship. This well-deserved recognition highlights his contributions to economic research and his potential for academic leadership.

Alex’s research lies in the design of markets and market-like institutions for resource allocation. He is especially interested in the application of economic theory to real-world problems, such as energy markets, ecosystem protection and refugee resettlement. His research has been supported by ESRC New Investigator Award and the ERC Starting Grant. He is currently a finance theme lead at the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery.

As an RSIV Professor, Alex will play a part in the academic governance of the department and the broader university community.  Alex’s role will involve providing strong research leadership, supporting junior colleagues, and actively contributing to the development and implementation of the department's research strategy.

In addition, Alex will supervise and mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, ensuring they receive the guidance and support necessary for their academic growth.

Alex said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition, and I will put all my energy into helping our department continue to produce world-class research and teaching in economics.”

This year, Alex will be teaching on three MPhil courses: Advanced Microeconomics, Core Microeconomics and Topics in Microeconomic Theory.

He will remain at St Catherine’s College as a Fellow by Special Election.

We extend our congratulations to Alex on this achievement and look forward to his continued contributions to our department, the University, and the wider academic community.
