Economic and social history uses historical data to address fundamental questions about past economies and societies. Seminars in 2021-22 investigate trust, fraud, fiscal capacity, corporate governance, legal origins, wages, and population growth, among many other themes. They span the period from the Middle Ages to the late twentieth century, and analyze Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
