185794 - CSAE Predoctoral Fellow
Department of Economics, Manor Road, Oxford
Fixed term from 1 September 2026 (with some flexibility on start date), for 12 months, with the possibility to extend for up to a further 12 months subject to funding
The postholder will join Professor Stefan Dercon and Dr Rocco Zizzamia as a predoctoral fellow at the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), an internationally renowned development economics research centre at the University of Oxford. The fellow will contribute to an active portfolio of research spanning climate change adaptation, education, anticipatory action, and social protection in developing countries. The research programme combines rigorous quantitative methods – including field experiments, quasi-experimental designs, and analysis of large-scale administrative and survey data – with close engagement with governments and international organisations.
The postholder will contribute to multiple research projects at various stages, from design through to analysis and publication. Core responsibilities include project management, coordinating fieldwork and project logistics with implementing partners, leading the design of surveys and interventions, data management and statistical analysis, and drafting sections of working papers and policy briefs. The fellow will work closely with the principal investigators, doctoral students, and other research staff, and will be encouraged to develop their own analytical contributions within the team’s projects.
