The Department has received the very sad news that Professor Wilfred Beckerman died on 18th April 2020 at the age of 94.
Wilfred was an Emeritus Fellow of Balliol College, where he was Fellow and Tutor in Economics from 1964-1969 and again from 1975-1992.
He was Professor of Political Economy at University College London from 1969-1975. Wilfred returned to UCL after his retirement from Oxford to teach environmental economics and ethics, in which he made major and widely cited research contributions. Our thoughts are with his widow and co-author, Joanna Pasek, and his family at this time.
