The Department has received the very sad news that Peter Sinclair died on the evening of 31 March 2020 in ICU in Norwich from COVID-19.
He was Emeritus Professor at the University of Birmingham, having been Fellow in Economics at Brasenose College from 1970 until 1994. He was also Director of the Bank of England’s Centre for Central Banking Studies from 2000 to 2008. Some will have known him from his time as a graduate student, some as a superb and inspirational tutor and lecturer, some from his books and papers on macroeconomics and international economics, some from his time at the Bank, and others knew him as a colleague. We remember him as the kindest of people, always with a broad smile on his face, generous with his time with students, young scholars and colleagues, and genuinely delighted to see everybody. We shall miss him. Our thoughts are with his widow, Jayne, his family, and his many friends.
There is now a Book of Condolences where colleagues and friends can leave their thoughts and memories of Peter.
