Oxford students in economics to join prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings

A new partnership between the Department of Economics and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, made possible through the generous support of 7ridge, will give outstanding Oxford graduate students and early-career researchers in economics the opportunity to engage with Nobel Laureates and talented young scientists from around the world.

For 75 years, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings have brought Nobel Laureates together with outstanding young scientists, fostering scientific exchange, international collaboration and lifelong professional connections. Participation is highly competitive, making the Meetings one of the world's most prestigious forums for emerging researchers.

The partnership was announced during this year's 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, held from 28 June to 3 July 2026, where Professor Jean-Paul Carvalho, Department of Economics, attended the signing of the agreement.

The partnership will cover the Lindau Nobel Meetings in Economic Sciences in 2028 and 2031. For each meeting, the Department will be able to nominate up to three graduate students or early-career postdoctoral researchers in economics.

Those selected will become Oxford Fellows, supported by 7ridge.

The Fellows will take part in the full scientific and social programme, engaging with Nobel Laureates and fellow researchers from across the globe, before joining the Lindau Alumni Network, an international community that continues to foster collaboration long after the Meetings have concluded.

The Department looks forward to supporting its first Oxford Fellows and seeing the ideas, collaborations and international connections that emerge from their time in Lindau.
