Oxford and Economics ranked number one in Guardian University Guide 2027

The University of Oxford has been ranked the UK’s number one university in the Guardian University Guide 2027, with Economics at Oxford also taking first place in the subject rankings.

Oxford topped the overall university table, while Economics received a Guardian score of 100 in the subject league table. The Economics results also recorded 95.4% satisfaction with teaching, a 98.7% continuation rate and a score of 93 for career outcomes 15 months after graduation.

At undergraduate level, students can study Economics at Oxford through three joint degrees: Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), Economics and Management, and History and Economics, each bringing economics together with another discipline.

Our undergraduate courses bring together excellent teaching from colleagues across the University, and this recognition reflects the commitment of everyone involved to creating a challenging and rewarding academic experience.”

The Guardian University Guide focuses particularly on undergraduate teaching, student experience and outcomes. Its rankings draw on eight measures, including student satisfaction with teaching and feedback, student-to-staff ratios, expenditure per student, continuation and graduate career prospects.
