Training the next generation of economists is central to our mission at the Department of Economics. We take great pride in our diverse range of courses and are thrilled to announce that our Masters in Financial Economics (MFE) has been ranked first in the United Kingdom and ninth in the world by the Financial Times in their 2024 rankings.
As part of their ranking, the Financial Times assessed 65 top universities and business schools across several criteria. Criteria included: career progression, aims achieved, and salaries. This year, our MFE advances from tenth to ninth globally, and from second to first in the UK.
One criterion the MFE excelled in was the ‘aims achieved’ category, with 92% of alumni meeting their objectives. This statistic positions us third globally in this criterion. We also now rank third among European programmes and sixth globally in the salary criterion showcasing the value of our degree.
The MSc in Financial Economics at Oxford University is a full-time, nine-month programme collaboratively run by the Department of Economics and the Said Business School.
Designed to equip students with highly sought-after financial economics skills, the programme combines rigorous academic training with practical applications tailored to meet the needs of leading financial institutions, companies, and public organisations. It is ideal for individuals wishing to pursue careers in investment banking, asset management, private equity, and management consultancy.
We are incredibly proud of this latest achievement and look forward to continually enhancing the course. We are currently developing a hybrid part-time version of the course to build on this success and further improve outcomes for our alumni in the years ahead.
