LOOKING BACK: WHEN NOBEL PRIZE-WINNING ECONOMIST RICHARD THALER VISITED OXFORD

In October 2019 – before talks via Zoom or Teams were the default option – the renowned American economist Professor Richard Thaler spent a week in Oxford at the invitation of Professor Vince Crawford.

Professor Thaler, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics in 2017 for his contributions to the field of behavioural economics, spoke in front of a huge audience in the department on the subject of ‘Doing Economics in the 21st Century’.

The lecture proved so popular among department staff and graduate students that a number of spill over rooms at Manor Road were required for the event.
