Dame Sarah Mullally, Archbishop of Canterbury-designate, among OUBEP alumni

Leaders of the future emerge in every sector. For more than 70 years, our Oxford University Business Economics Programme (OUBEP) has equipped them with the economic insight and analytical fluency to interpret change and make confident, evidence-based decisions.

We are proud to share that Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, Bishop of London and Archbishop of Canterbury-designate, is among our alumni, having attended the Economics for Business Leaders programme in 1995 (pictured below).

Delivered by the Department of Economics, OUBEP is a core part of our executive education and external engagement portfolio. Through both open-enrolment and tailored programmes, we bring Oxford’s research and teaching to senior professionals, policymakers, and leaders across sectors – connecting rigorous economic thinking with real-world decision-making.

Dame Sarah’s journey: from healthcare leadership to national public life, reflects OUBEP’s enduring mission to prepare leaders in all sectors to apply economic insight where it matters most.

Congratulations to Dame Sarah on her historic appointment!
