Our congratulations to Johannes Abeler on the award of an ESRC Research Grant.
Johannes Abeler has been awarded a major ESRC research grant aimed at improving our understanding of incentive payments systems. The research will focus on the dynamic aspects of incentives - the many situations where incentive payments do not just affect work effort in the current period. One of the hypotheses that will be investigated is whether firms can strategically introduce complexity into their incentive systems to improve their effect. These research questions will be addressed using field and laboratory experiments involving several thousand warehouse workers.
