British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships

The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships is a three year award made to an annual cohort of outstanding early career researchers in the humanities or social sciences. This scheme provides funding to cover the costs of a 36 month fellowship at a host institution of your choosing. The purpose of this award is to enable the award holder to pursue an independent research project, towards the completion of a significant piece of publishable research.

The call for proposals for the 2021/22 round is now open, with the deadline for submission of outline applications on 14 October 2021. Eligible candidates must be within three years of the award of a doctorate (this means being awarded via a viva voce examination between 1st November 2018 to 1st April 2022). Applicants must be either a UK/EEA national, or have completed a doctorate at a UK university. Those with a permanent academic post are ineligible to apply. Further details may be found here.

Applicants must be supported by the UK Host institution in which they wish to hold the fellowship. The Economics Department at Oxford University is keen to support proposals from able young researchers whose planned research fits well with the interests of department faculty. If you wish to apply for a  British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship with our support then please submit an outline research proposal (up to two sides of A4),  together with an up-to-date CV and a letter of support from a member of the department who will act as your mentor to Eleonora.Fulcini@economics.ox.ac.uk by noon on Monday 6 September  for review by the Department’s Research Committee.
