The Development Economics research group is part of a large and active community of researchers within Oxford analysing development issues from both a theoretical and an empirical perspective. Many group members are associated with the Centre for the Study of African Economies and work closely with colleagues in the Department for International Development and the Blavatnik School of Government. In collaboration with CSAE, the research group supports researchers and students in undertaking field research in developing countries, in Africa and elsewhere.

There are two seminar series in development economics in each term of the academic year. The Wednesday seminar series is devoted primarily to outside speakers. The Tuesday seminar series is a more informal affair at which students and researchers are encouraged to present work in progress.
