Summary: Application of the tools of macroeconomics and public finance to gain a better understanding of resource-rich economies with studies on the natural resource curse, impact of volatility of commodity prices on growth performance, determinants of resource and non-resource foreign direct investment, genuine saving and political economy determinants of resource wars. Normative studies of how best to harness resource windfalls for growth and development and on the optimal size of precautionary buffers to cope with commodity price volatility with applications to Norway, Ghana and Iraq. Climate economics with studies on the determinants of the level and the time profile of the optimal carbon tax and renewables subsidies. Climate tipping and economic growth.
