Village Level Studies (VLS) data from the original rounds, 1975-1984, is currently only available in unprocessed Excel format. This means that it is not formatted in the same way as the new VLS data and does not contain a common set of identifiers with the new VLS data. Consequently, at the moment, it cannot be merged with the new VLS data.

We have now collected all the necessary data to allow this merging to take place. We are currently working on an updated version of the old VLS data, which will be more user-friendly and easy to link to the new VLS data. Until then, see the ICRISAT manual for as much clarification as is currently available for these data, as well as the questionnaires, which can be found in the back of this document.
