Two Career Development Fellowships in Economics

Grade 7 | £29,099 - £35,788 pa

Corpus Christi College, Lincoln College and the Department of Economics propose to appoint two Career Development Fellows (CDF) in Economics. The positions, which are fixed-term, will be tenable for four years from 1 October 2012 to 30 September 2016.  The posts will be non-renewable. They are intended to provide a carefully structured period of preparation for those embarking on an academic career. Each Fellow will be required to undertake for the College six weighted hours of Economics teaching each week in tutorials or small classes, averaged over the three eight-week terms of the academic year, to set and mark college examinations, and to participate in the annual admissions process. The CDFs will have the ability to teach the Introductory Economics course for first year students, and two courses from the wide-ranging list of Finals examination papers, including at least one of the three compulsory courses: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Economics. The Fellows will also be required to give lectures or graduate classes for the Department, as requested by the Head of Department. The CDFs should engage in advanced study or research, such that the Department could reasonably expect to submit the post-holder as part of its return for the Research Excellence Framework in 2014, for which the census date will be in late 2013.

Applications (for both positions) should be submitted, by email, to the Senior Tutor at Corpus Christi College and should include a completed cover sheet, a letter of application to include an explanation of how you meet the selection criteria and a list of the papers you could teach, two items of written work, published or unpublished, and a curriculum vitae.

Applications should be received not later than noon on Tuesday 14 February 2012.

The two posts are separate but recruitment to them will be conducted by a joint selection panel comprising representatives of both Colleges and of the Economics Department. Unless otherwise instructed by the applicant, all applications will be considered for both posts. Referees should be asked to write directly, by email, to: the Senior Tutor at Corpus Christi College; their references to be received by not later than 14 February. Interviews will be held in Oxford on 12 March.

Corpus Christi College and Lincoln College are equal opportunity employers
