Undergraduate - Microeconomic Theory

Appropriate for Which Degrees:

Introduction

The course provides a rigorous introduction to core elements of microeconomic theory (except Game Theory), in particular the Economics of Information and General Equilibrium.

Assessment

A 3 hour paper with a choice of eight questions, one short one and one long one on each of the four topics below. Candidates will be required to answer three short questions and two long ones. The short questions will be similar to those in Part A of the new Microeconomics core paper, and the long questions will all be problem-solving questions similar to those in Part B of the old Economic Theory option paper – there will be no essay questions, but question might include a "discuss" or "comment" element.

Teaching Arrangements

There will be 15 lectures (1½ hours each) and 7 classes to run alongside lectures; all lectures and classes will be in Michaelmas Term. There will be a collection paper in Hilary Term, with one final class to go over the answers.
