Summary: Behavioural and experimental economics, retirement and savings policy, labour economics
My doctoral research thesis is entitled 'Essays in Myopia, Retirement Planning and Commitment Mechanisms'. I am interested in how non-standard theories of discounting over time may be applied to a wide range of economic choices, with a particular focus on labour supply and retirement. My work has looked at a range of commitment mechanisms that individuals may employ to deal with impulsive behaviour and cases where these mechanisms may clash. Furthermore, I am interested in using experimental approaches to assess the effect of different commitment mechanism designs in dealing with often conflicting policy objectives.
