Summary: Macroeconomic theory and policy; UK and OECD economies; international coordination.

Evaluation and design of monetary and fiscal policy frameworks and associated institutions following on from recent work at the Bank of England and HM Treasury: the redesign of macro policy in EMU; diagnosis of the German problem; enlargement.
Implications of possible UK entry into EMU for fiscal policy design in the UK.
Collaboration with Prof. Barr (LSE) on the economics of pensions and pension reform.
Ongoing work on the statistical infrastructure in the UK and EU arising from the Allsopp Review of Statistics for Economic Policymaking.
