29/11/2012Oxford economics graduate Mark Carney has been appointed as the next Governor of the Bank of England. Mark joined Oxford as an economics graduate student in 1991 and was awarded an MPhil in 1993 and a DPhil in 1995. His thesis topic was on the dynamic advantage of competition and he was supervised by Dr Meg Meyer.
25/10/2012Sir David F. Hendry, along with the Head of the Social Sciences Division, Roger Goodman, were elected as Academicians by the Academy of Social Sciences. The Academy only elects a small number of Academicians each year.
19/09/2012The 2012 Richard Stone Prize in Applied Econometrics has been awarded to Kevin Sheppard and Neil Shephard for their paper “Realising the future: forecasting with high frequency based volatility (HEAVY) models”, 2010, Journal of Applied Econometrics, 25, 197-231
