M.Phil. - Public Economics

Introduction

The objectives of this course are threefold.

  • To provide an overview of the main approaches to public economics
  • To provide the analytical tools necessary to tackle the main issues
  • To give instances of how such tools may be applied in topic of current debate

The subject will be approached both from the, mainly normative, approach that has developed over the last forty years, and from the, more recent, political economy approach. Candidates will have opportunities to demonstrate empirical knowledge.
