M.Sc./M.Phil - Development Economics

Introduction

The objective of the course is to give students an introduction to major themes in modern development economics, covering both empirical and theoretical methods.

The course belongs to the MPhil in Economics and the MSc in Economics for Development. The course comprises a core lecture course (taught in Michaelmas Term) and a series of specialized Modules (held in Hilary Term). There are currently eight Modules, each of which is composed of lectures and classes and runs for four weeks.

Please note:

  • Students taking the MPhil in Economics take all of the Michaelmas Term lectures and then a selection of the Hilary Term Modules.
  • Students taking the MSc in Economics for Development only take a selection of the Hilary Term Modules.
