The Department of Economics at Oxford University has around 300 graduate students, amongst whom are some of the finest aspiring economists from around the world. We offer our graduate students a rigorous and relevant training in economics, and provide a setting in which debate and research can flourish. M.Phil. in Economics
The MPhil is the course recommended to most students coming to Oxford who have not already successfully completed a good postgraduate taught programme in economics. It is designed to provide training in economics at the graduate level, comparable to the first two years of the PhD programme in the best US universities. For those who do not wish to progress to a doctorate, either at Oxford or elsewhere, the MPhil provides an excellent foundation in the subject for a career as a professional economist.

M.Sc. in Economics for Development
This is a one-year taught graduate degree course in Development Economics with a strong emphasis on bringing methods of modern economic analysis to development theory and policy. It aims to prepare students for further academic research and for work as professional economists on development issues in international agencies, governments or the private sector.

M.Sc. in Financial Economics
This is a one-year taught graduate degree course that provides training in the tools of financial economics sought by financial institutions, companies and public organisations. It combines a rigorous academic core with tailored practical application, designed in consultation with leading financial recruiters. Our students are placed within top investmment banks, financial consultancies, and government finance ministries.
This course combines:

The Doctoral Research Degree in Economics
Oxford has a thriving group of research students studying towards the award of a DPhil. in Economics. The DPhil is the name Oxford gives to its doctoral degree rather than the more familiar name PhD. used in most other universities
